A comprehensive and personalized medical program for the treatment and prevention of the diseases of modern man.

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is aimed at the deep causes of the disease. Her approach is focused on the whole organism, and doctor and patient participate in a common therapeutic partnership. It is about an evolution in medical practice, which deals with the health needs and problems of the 21st century man much more qualitatively and successfully.

Functional medicine focuses on the patient in his or her wholeness and unity, rather than on a separate group of symptoms, thereby changing traditional medical practices. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listen to their stories, and examine the interrelationships between genetic predispositions, environmental and lifestyle factors that can affect long-term health and complex chronic diseases. In this way, functional medicine works to support each individual's unique manifestation of health and vitality.

Why choose functional medicine?

Functional Medicine's focus is on patient care, presenting health as positive vitality, not just the absence of disease. By listening to the patient and learning his/her story, the doctor guides him in the process of discovering the hallmarks of true health and a sense of happiness. Our physicians design therapies and protocols to meet the unique needs of the individual patient.

A science-based health approach

Physicians practicing Functional Medicine  consider comprehensively and thoroughly  the whole puzzle of interactions in patient history, physiology, and lifestyle that would lead to a given disease. The unique genetic structure of the individual patient is taken into account, along with both his internal /psyche, body, spirituality/ and external /physical and social environment/ factors.

Integrating best medical practices

Functional medicine integrates traditional Western medical practices with what is sometimes considered "alternative" or "integrative" medicine, focusing on prevention through nutrition, diet, and physical activity; using the most modern laboratory tests and other diagnostic apparatus; and prescribing combinations of medicinal drugs, herbal and plant-based preparations, nutritional supplements, therapeutic diets, detox programs, techniques to cope with stress on a daily basis.

Any INFLAMMATION can lead to multiple conditions: depression, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, etc.
Each of our patients fills out a questionnaire specially prepared for the methods of functional medicine before consultation. The first consultation lasts about an hour and is conducted by the following specialists: Associate Professor Emil Kaludiev, Dr. Mariam Kaludieva, Dr. Julia Atanasova, Dr. Valentin Belchev. This first assessment has a leading role along with tests and medical diagnostics to clarify the overall picture of physical condition and functioning. Treatment protocols are prepared initially for a period of 10 or 30 days, during which time the patient has the opportunity to contact the doctors of the team, give feedback, receive guidance and additional explanations. After 30 days, a new comprehensive consultation and tests are done to evaluate the results, and if it is necessary to continue the treatment, new protocols are drawn up until complete healing.

Functional medicine is also the best method for the prevention and prevention of modern man's diseases such as: obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, cardiovascular problems, endocrine problems, venous insufficiency, asthma, arthritis, chronic fatigue, skin problems, acne, depression conditions, atherosclerosis, dementia, Alzheimer's, Hashimoto's, insomnia, etc.

Why do we need Functional Medicine?

Our society is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of people suffering from complex chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, mental disorders and anxiety, autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. The medicine practiced by most doctors is focused on urgent care - the diagnosis and treatment of trauma or illness of short duration and with a need for urgent care, such as appendicitis or a broken leg. Doctors administer specific medications and treatments such as drugs or surgery aimed at treating the immediate problem or symptom.

Unfortunately, the medical approach to acute phase care lacks proper methodology, means of prevention and treatment of complex, chronic conditions. In most cases, this medicine does not take into account the unique genetic makeup of the individual, factors such as exposure to toxins and harmful substances from the environment, or aspects of the modern lifestyle that have a direct influence on the increase in the growth of chronic diseases in modern Western society.

The doctors of MC "DORIS CLINIC" spend the necessary time with their patients, listen to their stories and examine the interrelationships between genetic predispositions, environment and lifestyle factors that can affect long-term health and cause chronic conditions. We know that a condition can be the result of many causes, and that a single cause can lead to multiple diseases. For example, the condition DEPRESSION may be caused by causes such as: omega 3 deficiency, hypothyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, prediabetes, taking antibiotics, etc.;
